Double Dog Dare

A phrase used in elementary school to pressure someone into a situation. After the dare has been declined the person "daring" the other will try to take it to the next level. The origin is unknown but is commonly believed to have made it's debut in the movie "A Christmas Story". Use before going to the Triple Dare, Triple Dog Dare, and then if all else fails revert to cursing.

Flick: Are you kidding? Stick my tongue to that stupid pole? That's dumb!
Schwartz: That's 'cause you know it'll stick!
Flick: You're full of it!
Schwartz: Oh yeah?

damsel syndrome

(n.) Damsel syndrome is a common affliction amongst women, particularly those who grew up watching Disney movies or reading fairy tales.
Damsel syndrome is thought to be caused by women's desire to be "traditionally" feminine in the interest of attracting a partner, though in serious cases Damsel Syndrome can lead to becoming an annoying, needy, self-victimizing, dumb bitch.

A female with Damsel Syndrome will often play off a partner's willingness to be the "white knight" to her "damsel in distress" by consistently becoming more and more demanding. If denied their way, people with serious cases of DS often resort to emotional manipulation or crying.

Bob: My lady broke a nail while raiding the shopping mall. With my credit card. I gotta go pick her up.
Tom: Just go get the card and leave her there... bitch got damsel syndrome.

I dare say

Newfoundlanders use this as a response to gossip, news, information. Also means the same as "oh really?", "No way!", "you got to be kidding me" etc.

Also used in forming a sentence involving a question or wondering.

1.Lucy: I think Sue is having a party tomorrow night.
Meg: I dare say?

2.Chuck: I dare say I will be going to Sue's party.
Bill: I dare say? I will see ya there then.
