Pole Axed

The pole axe was a weapon used in medeival England. It was literally an axe atop a long pole. Originally the term meant to be killed with such a weapon; it later came to mean being violently killed with any such weapon or instrument.
When the running back was hit by the middle linebacker, he went down like he'd been pole axed.

This happens in the high school boys lockerroom when an abundance of axe is sprayed making it hard to breath and leaves side effects of headaches, overwhelming scent, and repel of anyone who comes in contact.
I think he got sent home because of axe poisoning.

hand axe

A prehistoric tool that is the equivalent of an axe head yet was held in the hand. Made of stone, it was chipped around the edges to make it sharp. Most cavemen fossils are accompanied by these.
It wouldn't surprise me if stone age jungle dwellers still use a hand axe.
