A few changes to a fanfiction's story to put it apart from the original wouldn't make it a Tumblr Fanfiction, it's only if it has so many changes that they could literally replace the main characters of it with their own designs and most people wouldn't know that it's based on an existing piece of media. These types of fanfictions are everywhere, trust me, I used to write this type of trash.
Despite the term's name, this isn't just used for actual Tumblr fanfictions. This term is for fanfictions that fit that definition in general. It's named this way because Tumblr fanfictions are stereotyped to be cheesy and bad (they usually are haha).
