A person who is married to someone in the service who doesn't just depend on their spouse for financial support, but pretty much relies on them for it. They start out all cute and All-American until after the wedding, then it's like cookies, couch and coach purses. Arguing with other dependas over Facebook all day over who's the bigger dependa. They're generally not educated and have no goals or aspirations in life. They live their lives through their husband's successes and think they rank and are better than "civilians" when they themselves are in face...still civilians.

You can usually find them at the PX and/or commissary like a herd of cattle during every pay period blowing their spouse's paycheck on oreos, Coach and Michael Kors and then complaining 2 days after "they" got paid that they're broke and need someone to deliver them free diapers for their 6th baby. -"My husband and I just got married last month, what are some websites that give free stuff to military wives?"

Dependopotamus

A leech-like creature normally associated with the military, but has been seen in other forms outside of the military. This creature can be seen in it's natural state normally in the Post or Base Exchange, usually in the food court area. Easy ways to identify the Dependopotamus are; being abnormally large, normally sloppily dressed, however some female versions will dressed in a manner that is highly unflattering to their size (clothes that are much smaller than what they should be wearing). Male Dependopotami are extremely rare, but do exist.

That man/chick is a Dependopotamus. Private Snuffy never has money because he/she is blowing it away on food and stupid stuff at the PX.

depression-sit

You know when you get to work, but you wait in your car so you can listen to the rest of your favorite song, or maybe a funny part of a podcast? This is like that, but without the music. There's no way you're hopping out of the car and starting a work day without questioning your life choices first. Alternatively, you might compulsively scroll through your various social media feeds instead of questioning your life choices.

You can also depression-sit on a toilet, but your feet might fall asleep.

Boss: "Matt, you're late again." Matt: "Well, I got here on time, but then I had to depression-sit for about 15 minutes before I could bear the thought of entering the building."

Can also be used as a noun: "My boss texted me and interrupted my depression-sit".
