falling into a wiki hole

the situation where a person looks up information on wikipedia and begins clicking on the links embedded in the articles text to continue gathering more information out of curiosity and then doing so for each proceeding article to the point where the person either has lost all track of time or has forgotten the initial purpose of going onto the wikipedia site

I was looking up the date of the Pearl Harbor attack but ended up falling into a wiki hole and next thing you know, it was 2 hours later and I was learning about ancient feudal Japan.

mixed feelings

The technical phrase for mixed feelings is cognitive dissonance, as used by psychologists. This is the mental state or attitude of having contradictory or opposing desires, wants, needs, thoughts, etc.

*The worst kind of mixed feelings one can experience is with someone who they have strong affection for, but that person behaves contrarily towards the other person's desires,wants, needs, thoughts, etc. This leaves the person in an extremely tough situation of constant emotional distress, not knowing of whether to stick with the other person or to leave.*

Person 1: Man, I just don't know what to do, or what I want to do. I mean, I really like her, it just doesn't ever continue on with her side. I keep getting shot down. The feelings I have from her are just from me.
Person 2: Looks like a case of mixed feelings. You need to find some else, someone that cares about how you feel.

The Feeling

"The Feeling" refers to a type of second-hand embarassment one gets in awkward situations. You may have to look away, walk away or ignore to get rid of the uncomfortable tension in your stomach.

Nerds making out and canoodling in public may give you "the feeling."

If someone tells a story with too many graphic details in front of your boss or parent, you may get "the feeling".

If someone tells a corny joke or anecdote, you may get "the feeling". Same goes for over romantic, nostaglic, or schmaltzy sentiments.

If someone falls, farts, or makes a fool of themself and you are directly next to them, you may get "the feeling."

Falling Freak

One of those lunatics who thinks that skydiving or base jumping or bungee jumping or any other sort of "falling-to-your-death-but-not-really" activity is cool.

Hey, let's go down to the bridge and untie the Falling Freaks when they jump off!

I don't hate Falling Freaks; I just don't like scraping them off of my driveway.

Filling Up the Stetson

Urinating in an open container while riding in a moving car. The phrase originated in 1835, when settlers riding the Oregon Trail were forced to relieve themselves in a large Stetson hat, to avoid stopping their wagons for fear of Indian attacks.

"Geez Jimmy, would you drive a little smoother? I'm filling up the stetson right now, but since you're driving like a maniac, it's splashing around everywhere."

feeling the bacon

"Feeling the Bacon": A feeling of overwhelming fatigue and generalized anxiety while working out, caused by eating an unhealthy meal. The phrase does not necessarily mean that the person had bacon, but that they ate poorly and are trying to offset said meal.

Example:

"Hey, how was your run!" - Person A
"Oh man, I was feeling the bacon." - Person B
"That bad, eh?!" - Person A
