(Random person's thoughts as they happen) "oh shit I just tripped over, whoops and I knocked over that glass of water at the same time, oh my god and it's gone all over that lamp and OVER THE WIRES &!%£$%^AAAAARRGGHHH BROWN NOISE SITUATION!!"
When you are so broke that you incur penalties causing you to become more broke, thus incurring more penalties.
You are in Schroedinger's situation when you don't have the money to fix a broken taillight, so the cops give you a ticket. You pay the ticket, thereby incurring an overdraft charge. And so on.
A situation where you know there's something different/wrong but can't place why until afterwards. It can also be a situation where you know something could happen and is preventable, but it happens anyways.

Dave: "That's because you bitched out on Sam who was planning the party the night before."
Bob: "Damn. That's a cherry on the bottom situation."
