screen scrape

To get data from a screen like a web page or mainframe (green screen) using a program. The program must parse the web page source (HTML) and look for hints, like field label tags. For mainframes is much easier since the screen is just a flat ASCII string.

Screen scrape eBay or Amazon pages and collect product offerings and prices.

After you do a "screen capture" of a picture or a still of a video, you have in a sense "screen capped" it.

Note: I'm not sure of the best way to spell it, I'm going with the version of "Screen Capping" that has previously been submitted.

I saw this random picture that was in a music video that didn't have images instead of a story with real people. I "screen capped" it to send to you for you to see.

Idiots who text while walking down the sidewalk unaware of all the people that have to dodge them. Also someone who won't wait to get out of a crosswalk to scroll on their phone.

I was going 45mph through a green light and this f*cking screen zombie drags ass right into the crosswalk in front of oncoming traffic without ever looking up from her phone.
