A largely male trait, indicating the suffering of fear that men will treat them the way they treat women.

Man: "I hate gays, I don't want a man grabbing my ass or trying to kiss me! I am straight damnit!"

A serious mental illness that can be cured with a cure of the name: Understatement.
Homophobia causes people to mention things like "normal" and "straight" that are usually used together by people affected with homophobia, "Bible" and "Jesus" nothing wrong with these, but can be said by people affected with homophobia.

Normal person:Hi
Queer person: I'm non-binary
Normal person: That's fine! I may not fully understand you, but I respect you!
Non-Cured person:NOOO!! BE NORMAL. BE STRAIGHT.
Cured person: I can't believe I had homophobia...
