chip gathering

a gathering amongst biblical brothers. Usually in a secretive place, brothers in Christ. This is a biweekly occurrence, one must eat 30 chips during the gathering. You must have at least one unopen bag of chips present. You also must have two different types of salsa present. If you don’t meet the requirements, it is not a chip gathering.

chip off of the old block

Where the "chip" is referring to the son (or sometimes daughter), and the "block" is referring to the father (but seldom the mother). Meaning that the offspring heavily resemble their own parents. Also meaning that the son has acquired a characteristic from their father.

Hey Johnny, that's exactly what your Pop said! You're a real chip off of the old block, ya know that?

This idiom simply means to harbour a grudge. It comes from the nineteenth century US practise of spoiling for a fight by carrying a chip of wood on one's shoulder, daring others to knock it off.
