Get the the mug.
a word primarily used to indicate specificity before a noun phrase.
"Mr. Rigot carried a box into the kitchen. Then he placed the box on the counter."

In the first sentence, it is unspecified which particular box is being referred to. It could be any box. However, in the second sentence, after having identified the box previously, "the" is used to indicate that it is indeed the same box as before.

Get the the mug.
A very, very, very useful word that no one seems to be able to do without. Slightly more specific than 'a' or 'an'. Funnily enough, no one seems to be able to give it a decent definition either.
Person: What does the word 'the' mean?
Person 2: Why do you need to know? You just used it.
Person: What the hell? Did I?

Me: You just can't avoid the word 'the'. There's even one in my name...
