Self inflicted theft is most likely to occur when people don't take the basic steps to secure valuable property, almost encouraging thieves to commit acts that relieve owners of property.

There's been a rash of break-ins and thefts of expensive vehicles in Snobsville as they sit unused in COVID, doors unlocked, valuables and key fob in plain sight.
