It was released on October 2nd.1982. the album itself is a sentient blend of post war 2 euphoria and cautious optimism. Fagen himself stated that the album was written from the perspective of e young teenage boy growing up in postwar suburban tracts like levittown. One thematic thread which runs throughout the album is an almost naive sense of optimism as evidenced by the song "igy"(90 minutes from New York to Paris well by '76 we'll be waiting there!) To counter balance this naivety
