Get the kushi-shammug. Kushi is a Hebrew word that is used to refer to Black people/ Subsaharan people. It comes from the name of the Kingdom of Kush, which was a Kingdom which was powerful in about 700 BCE, south of Egypt. Kushi does not mean stranger or ape. Although its origin was with the great powerful ancient Kingdom of Kush, which at one time rule over Egypt, in modern Hebrew it has come to have a derogatory connotation.
