holidate

The person, of a romantic nature or not, that you take with you to mitigate the insanity of being near family during major cultural events that require a lot of gathering, eating and spending quality time together. Examples of such holidays include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

My holidate, Chris, and I will be playing the "racist and homophobic comments drinking game" when he comes home with me for Thanksgiving this year.

holidate

A holidate is the genius combination of a date (ie, getting to know a romantic partner) and a holiday (a short trip to another town)

Holidates are most appropriate (although this is not essential) when in a long distance relationship. The only real prerequisite is that neither partner lives in the holiday destination, giving an equal playing field to explore the new town together and get to know each other better without the preconception of one person playing host.

Althogh its typically an unspoken rule that there is the expectation of sex, the comparitively innocent holidate is not to be confused with the dirty weekend, which usually sees the couple staying in the hotel room for the entirety of the weekend.

Holidate is typically used just like date and holiday:

Jenny and I are going on a holidate down south for the long weekend.

A person(or a group of people) who celebrate any and every holiday despite any national, racial or religious background.

"Gee....I didn't know Bob was irish. He really celebrates St.Patrick's Day.

Oh Bob's not Irish. He's a Holidazian. He celebrates every holiday . He's not a Christian but he sure celebrates the fuck out of Christmas."

A word pot smokers and stoners use to describe April 20th also called 420, now known as national pot-smoking day.

It's the feeling of dread hanging over you when you have to go to work on a federal holiday because your company skimps on holiday pay and only offers the "6 major holidays". This is usually triggered by seeing your spouse still in bed as you head out the door to work. Holidaze may be accompanied by bitterness and envy.

Sara didn't want to go to work today. She made lots of noise getting ready to rouse her sleeping husband, kicked the cat, and silently prayed for a cable outage so that her husband would be bored all day. Sara has a serious case of holidaze.

Holidate

When a person goes on a holiday and they meet someone who lives in the area of the holiday location who shows them around and introduces to their friends. They would be romantic as well and sex would be their own choice...sometimes easier to make then when just home.

I went to Tunisia and had the best holidate with a guy there!
