The capital city of Connecticut. Known as "the hartbeat" or "the beat" by it's residents. It's famous for two things, the whalers and insurance companies, however the whalers left and so did a bunch of insurance companies. nowadays it's pretty dangerous after about 6:00 pm and there's a good chance of being mugged.
Hartford calls its self the rising star of the east when really it's crashing pretty bad.

The North end is populated by primary African Americans, while the South End seems to have more Hispanic people. The south end is more known for their “Business” while the North has generally been the more dangerous. Heroin/Fentanyl and Crack sales are abundant, as the south end is almost an open air market. With some of the most corrupt police forces in the state, and the same failing policies for decades, the City is unlikely to change.

There’s more people than teeth, and more cows than people. Hartford also has a tavern and a stewarts so you never have to buy groceries again. If you have all of your teeth or are an African American I’d stay as far away from this town as possible.

Good public and private schooling, many kids graduate and become lawyers and doctors while many others opt for more non-traditional artistic careers.
West Hartford center has excellent dining and nightlife options, though people who prefer dive bars or seedy night clubs may find themselves disappointed.
I'VE LIVED IN GREENWICH, and I can honestly say that West Hartford is a better place to live. First of all, most people who live in Greenwich, or anywhere in Fairfield county, pay upwards of 500K for a house that looks like an old shanty w/ a tiny yard. That doesn't stop those people from feeling like they are amongst the upper crust of society...inherited money can have that affect on some people, I suppose. Also, unlike Greenwich, there is a lot of diversity in West Hartford, it's not just white kids w/ large adam's apples, lobster embroidered shorts, and a displaced sense of entitlement.
Overall, it's a town similar to most places, there are good and bad people, it just comes down to what you make of it. People who find themselves on the receiving end of social rejections will define the townspeople negatively, so take it with a grain of salt.

East Hartford had one of the highest increases of blacks/puertoricans between 1990 and 2000 in the state of CT, and it had the HIGHEST increase in poverty. East Hartford Highschool is the most diverse highschool in the state. Crime as a whole is still relatively low (compared to Hartford), but crime is gradually increasing. Notable seady areas include: Most of Burnside Avenue/Tolland Street, Park Avenue/Columbus Circle, Hockanum, Maybery Village, Silver Lane, and Brewer Street.
