To say "good-bye". Some persons run "good-bye" together, dropping the "d". This makes it sound like they are saying "goobye". This is, in turn shortened once more to "gooby". Mainly used by gay men in the Southeast United States.

"Ok Ramone, I'll see you at the Mr. Gay Tennessee pageant tomorrow! Gooby!"
