A person engrossed in or proficient at activities relating to computing (eg, programming, gaming). Use has spread to be an affable term of endearment and is not considered derogatory.
Also has found use as a verb (often with ~ it up), as doing the activities of a geeban.

Derived from schadenfreude, by a geek.

Geekenfreude is the feeling you get when your friend is jumping up and down with excitement over a perceived reference to Harry Potter in their favourite band's new album.

That is, if you're not the kind of person who would just sigh and ignore them.
