Sh(ort) (p)ants. This term may refer to any pant that has been cropped to a length that hits somewhere between the ankle and the middle of one's calf.

Flood pants, usually seen in a place where a flood is not likely. Shants are most commonly seen on middle-aged women. They may be made of linen or of a cotton blend, and they are most often white, bright pink, turquoise, or lime green in color. However, neither the color nor the material is a criterion for their categorization as shants. The length maketh the shant.

Any shants sported by a man may be referred to as "man shants" or simply shmants.

Noun: SHANTS are an artical of men's clothing, worn as bottoms. They are in between shorts and pants. Shants are too long to be shorts, but too short to be pants. Shants are often worn by Bro Dudes or Homies. They're typically worn with very long, white tube socks, that fully cover the shins. Between the shants and the socks, the legs are 100% covered.

"Did you see the guy with the long wallet chain, wearing those Dickies shants, you know, the ones that go five inches past the knee caps?"

Half shorts half pants. Generally worn in lower income areas and Walmarts across the nation.

You have seen them many times. They generally come in demin. Sometimes with mediocre wanna be Ed Hardy designs. Or the likes of something ripped off an Affliction shirt. Either way you can't figure out what they are. So, here they are: SHANTS-Shorts that go past your knees, sagging from your ass, and just stopping short from reaching your shoes. Half shorts-half pants.
