a specific type of insult which is often rude in some way or another, with things like comparisons to generally bad things and on the internet is generally directed at celebrities and people like that (e.g. Donald trump) but in real life it can be used on anyone whom you don't like or as banter.

roaster: "you know that bloody mary thing, where you look at a mirror , say 'bloody mary' three times and a creepy face appears, i did that last week, you know, your face came up, almost gave me a heart attack"
watcher: "that was a damn good roast, roaster"
roaster: "why thank you"
