An aesthetic popular on the social media website tumblr, typically consisting of photos with a light haze over them, angels, statues, pastel paintings, cemeteries, knives, dolls and/or doll parts, blood, and light gore. Morute encompasses a variety of styles, primary soft pastel and gothic/morbid with a chilling, mysterious vibe. The term 'morute' is an amalgamation of the words 'morbid' and 'cute', which defines the aesthetic.

The term was coined by tumblr blogger, 47cm, in early 2017.

Nicole Dollanganger, a singer who fits this aesthetic very well both lyrically and appearance-wise, is known to be one of the people whom had assisted in making this a popular aesthetic.
