Hint and Hope - when someone wants another person to do something specific, or change behavior, but is unwilling to address the issue directly. Regularly used in relationships

John: 'Mary is going out with her work colleagues tomorrow. They suck! I just want her to come home and cook dinner for me so I told her I'd get in a bottle of her favorite wine, help with the washing up and gave her a hug'

Jack: 'No way is that hint and hope going to work, man! Just tell her not to go out with that boring load of ****s'

1. "Hint hint" is something that someone says sarcastically to another person to guide them into the correct direction, to let them know that they are close to a solution (usually by pointing their finger to the correct area, etc...), it is simply dropping a 'hint" to an otherwise temporarily or permanently clueless person.

EX: This Blonde Bombshell was hitting on John, but he was so nervous that he could not reply with anything else other than a nod. I think the cat had his tongue LOL! So I whispered: "Hint hint" *elbow jab* John! get on the ball or I will. Well, John wussed out and I had a sweet one night stand with a total babe! I think John put her on his MILF list. Ooooooooooh she is SO fine! I won't tell John that she gave me her number. I am gunna ring her soon too; she told me to give her a booty call anytime!

When someone attempts to hint something at someone, multiply times, and usually unsuccessfully.

Boy: "Wanna go out?"
Girl 1: "Sorry I can't. My parents won't let me."
Boy: "Oh ok... I could meet them?"
Girl 1: "Yea that won't help, sorry."
Boy: "Are you sure?"
Girl 1: "Yes I'm sure. Very sure."

Girl 2: "So you said no?"
Girl 1: "Pretty much, I did drop a massive hint bomb on him..."

hint water

A water beverage advertised as being flavored, yet actually contains very little flavoring. Basically a seltzer water without the carbonation. Fits into the category of "new age" drinks that move away from traditional sodas/pops.
