Bloomberg effect

Named after Walter Bloomberg, a person on X/Twitter who tweeted false information on trump’s pause on tariffs. An effect that happens when the market briefly spikes after investors hear false information about something.

The first instance of the Bloomberg effect happened on April 7th, 2025 when an account by the name of “Walter Bloomberg” tweeted unverified information that trump would put a 90 day pause on tariffs with the exception of china. This caused Dow, NASDAQ, &, S&P 500’s stocks to briefly spikes after investors heard the news.

The former mayor of New York City who ran for President as a member of the Democratic Party to defeat Donald Trump on November 3, 2020. Mike Bloomberg chose Hillary Clinton as his running mate and Trump-Pence would’ve defeated Bloomberg-Clinton on Election night but the electoral map would’ve turned to Bloomberg if Bloomberg-Clinton were the Democratic nominees because of COVID-19. He suspended his campaign on the day after Super Tuesday for defeating Donald Trump because he knew he wouldn’t be able to reach that goal in November. He was a Democrat before 2001 and he switched back from an Independent to Democrat in 2018 and has been a Democrat since. He was a Republican from 2001-2007. He was an Independent from 2007-2018. He is sometimes known as the Democratic version of Donald Trump because both are billionaires and businessmen. As mayor of New York City, New York City has made a lot of progress since the terrible tragedy of 9/11 because of his leadership. NYC is a safe place to live. Affordable housing units have been created. Healthcare has been extended to many people. Crime rates dropped. Good jobs have been created. Salaries have been raised. Graduation rates increased.

I believe Michael Bloomberg has the ability to make a lot of progress in America like he did in New York City

Bloomer

A mix of a realist and an optimist the Bloomer stands opposite to his doomer counterpart. The Bloomer, just as the doomer, sees the world for what it really is: messy, hard, unforgiving, selfish etc. They don't live in a bubble but see the harsh reality of this world. However, where the boomer falls into pessimism or nihilism and refuses to do anything about the situation but await the end, the Bloomer has a positive outlook. He accepts the rules of the game and in it tries to make something of himself. He also sees the good sides of life, wants to live a happy life and be successful.

*during the corona crisis*
Doomer: "look at all these selfish people. They sit at each others throats, act like idiots, the economy plummets... Society is doomed."
Bloomer: "Yeah, I know that there are lot of dumb people out there, but there are a lot of smart people too! And look at all the solidarity! We'll get through this mate, we'll get back into the world and start rebuilding. It'll all be fine."
