abercrombie

The GAP of the 2000s. Niche-marketed apparel store that appeals to teens/young 20s buyers through a well-executed marketing campaign that is more about lifestyle than the apparel. The clothes themselves are of decent quality. The style isn't for everyone. Many people, not just emo teens, dislike the line for its reliance on obvious logos and the faux-vintage aesthetic. Prices are similar to more established lines such as Lauren Ralph Lauren or Ann Taylor / Ann Taylor Loft for women, Polo, and Calvin Klein, DKNY, etc. Abercrombie differentiates itself by going for the youth demographic. Although attractive for casual wear, if the wearer ascribes to the brand aesthetic, the clothes really don't work in professional settings so most buyers leave them behind in favor of the "Grown-up" brands by their mid-20s. As with any designer label, dressing head to toe in the same brand speaks of a trendwhore mindset.
"I don't pass over guys just for wearing Abercrombie. It just makes it easier to sort out the ones who haven't grown up -- they have a moose on every shirt."

"Can a girl in AT skirts and kitten heels find happiness with an Abercrombie boy? Probably not unless he's willing to move beyond his college days."

"I can't date an Abercrombie boy. I refuse to date a guy whose jeans cost more than mine."

Abercrombie

A guy who worries more about his looks than his girlfriend does. Someone whose vain, arrogant and an all-around asshole.
Watching a guy who's wearing a grey shirt and a grey sweater; he changes to a second grey sweater because the first one doesn't match well enough. You're thinking, "That guy is such an Abercrombie."

You're thanking your date for driving a long way to visit you and he says, "I didn't come here for you, I came here for me." You're thinking, "This asshole is such a fucking Abercrombie. What the fuck was I thinking?"

Abercrombie and Fitch

Their brand image is all about beauty, and class; to most people its quite frankly vulgar. But this is the interesting thing, the same people who find it vulgar, find it irresistible, and seductive. They cant help but think, by simply buying these expensive clothes, they’re buying themselves into the elitist class the brand sells. Regardless of what people say, it’s a proven fact that the quality of the products these brands sell are better than other retail brands, and you can tell that when you shop there the clothes immediately feel thicker, comfier, the swing tags look and feel expensive, everyone who works there are beautiful; this all adds to its seduction, even if you hate the idea of it all.

What works for these brands are that they tap into our egos. They are either our regular store we go to spend all of Mummy and Daddy’s money, or we’ve been seduced and cant help mixing with the ‘upper class’ and fulfilling our retail guilty pleasure.

You could argue this ideology is wrong, but Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, Jack Wills are hugely successful brands, they have selected a powerful target audience which provokes opinions which only adds the their success. You either love it, hate it, or pretend to hate it but secretly love it.
Abercrombie and Fitch, just another guilty pleasure like sleeping with your girlfriends sister. You know you shouldn't, but shit she's hot!
