For the Sake of the Plot 

A reason given when something unrealistic, unbelievable, or too convenient happens in a movie, book, or TV show because otherwise the plot would be ruined. Especially relevant when characters miss obvious details that would lead to big revelations.
"Why the FUCK hasn't Lois Lane realized that Clark Kent is Superman! They look exactly alike and he DOESN'T EVEN WEAR A MASK!"

This is what happens when the plot gets lost. Generally a term used to describe the state of mind one might find oneself in, having spent too many nights out clubbing in Ibiza with very little if any sleep whatsoever.

A euphemism used when a story's actual details are too complicated to understand, or too embarassing to get into, or just too boring to bother with wasting the other person's time.
