jump the broom

Denotes an antebellum marriage ritual used by African-American slaves, who were often prevented from legally marrying.

With wide variations, the basic feature of the ritual was that the marriage union was solemnized by a young couple leaping together over a broom. This would be done in the context of a family gathering.

Widely practiced in the American South, the ritual may have an African origin, or it may have been adapted from a similar ancient Celtic fertility ritual.

"Jumping the broom" is currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity as a tribute to the customs of American slaves.

"Since legal marriage between us seems impossible, let's go jump the broom!"

noun. A mustache made famous in the 1980's; worn by the likes of Tom Selleck and Ron Jeremy amongst others. Named as such for its very thick and bushy manner closely resembling a push broom. Accentuated by the fact there is no goatie to compliment. Though outdated, a favorite amongst murphs (see murph).

Because of his push broom, Otranto could smell the remnance of the zot (see zot)Freeda gave him for days.

Badoomp

Badoomps are those little yellow bumps sometimes in the middle of the road, appropriately named 'Badoomp' because that is the noise it makes when you drive over one in your car.

Note* don't drive over Badoomps in Fords, as it will most likely break your car.

2. (V); To engage in Physical Activity, usually for an intense gain in muscle mass.

1a. "I've been going to the gym five days a week, and i'm really Broomelled."

1b. "GET BROOMELLED, SON." *

2a. "Just Broomelled for 2 hours. Feels good man. GET BROOMELLED SON!"

*Most statements about Broomelling will end in the above phrase, "GET BROOMELLED SON", 90% of the time in all caps (if on the internet) or yelled as loud as possible (at the gym).

Yelling "GET BROOMELLED SON" is only acceptable if the user of the statement is well on their way to an Olympian Physique or has been deemed worthy by Jack Broomell and his dad's mustache.

Yelling or typing as one's Facebook status "GET BROOMELLED SON" is acceptable up to five times per day without consumption of bacon. Any usage beyond the former requires consumption of at least five (5) Bacon Strips per use.
