Friendster

The old defunct gaming service (formerly social network service) that was founded in 2002 and predated much more popular social networks like Facebook and MySpace. Friendster was dissolved in 2011 and was sold to Asia to become a terrible gaming site. It then was dissolved in 2015 and the website remained active until 2018. RIP Friendster.

Guy 1: Have you heard of Friendster?
Guy 2: I really miss using Friendster instead of the crappy Facebook.

2.) Friendship + institution. The conceptual social institution of friendship.

Similar to friendstitution, this is the action (and combination of words prostituting and friend(s)) when someone goes looking for to make new friends endlessly, like a prostitute looking for sex.

It can also mean when one institutes friendship due to having common ground.

Omg, he’s friendstituting at the club again, he has so many friends, it’s ridiculous!
