When something was promised to you then later denied by someone it was promised to you.

I was told by my boss I was going to get a promotion. Then the next day he said he never said anything of the sort. Now THAT is douchebaggery!

A parasitic energy field encircling the host i.e. the douchebag.

One must be careful not to get too close to the douchebagosphere, as there is a possibility of becoming a douchebag oneself. Caution must be adherred to at all times when in close proximity to the douchebagosphere.
