Opposite of designated driver. Person who is always drunk when going out. There can be more than one, and there usually is. Denoted by the abbreviation DD, and can therefore be confused with designated driver.

Bri: I'm tired of being the DD all the time.

dry drunk

A dry drunk is an alcoholic who stops drinking on their own without working a 12-step program. Although they are sober and no longer drinking, they still retain behavioral patterns of an alcoholic, which most commonly include:
1. Grandiose behavior
2. Impulsiveness
3. Complacent feelings

Former President George W. Bush has admitted that he stopped drinking on his own without the help of a 12-step program. By this definition, he would be a Dry Drunk.
