knickerbocker

Old nic-name for a New Yorker. Comes from the days when it was New Amsterdam and the ruling Dutch wore knickers for pants. Since these were so commonly seen on the streets there, the name was then applied to the residents. Source of New York Knicks basketball team name as well.
She comes from three generations of Knickerbockers.

A prospective purchaser of a car who does not know what he or she is looking for when examining the car. From the pointless gesture of kicking the tyres often employed by such.

Knee knocker

1) A term used by sailors for the jamb of a water-tight door. A water-tight door's opening is about 20 inches above walking surface.

2) A term used by hot-rod enthusiasts for after market items mounted to the bottom of a dashboard assembly. (ie. Tachometers, Nitrous Oxide switches, etc.)
