the calls made usually at an ubsurd hour of the night/morning after drinking heavily that the caller regrets the next day when they discover that the person they called was their ex and they admitted to still having feelings for or something equally embarrasing

a conversation resulting from a drunk dial may go something like this:

"hello?"
"omg i love you so much why did we break up i need you"
"ew"
"I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOU!'

dial-a-shot

The process by which one person contacts another (via phone, text message, etc.) and shouts "dial-a-shot!", resulting in both people simultaneously taking a shot of whatever alcohol is available at that time. This was invented as a way to connect people separated by long distances and also to give people an excuse to take shots by themselves.

While on her trip to New York, Vicki's Seattle friend Meghan called her and shouted "dial-a-shot!" Vicki responded by grabbing the nearest bottle of grape vodka and taking a shot, while Meghan, in Seattle, took a shot at the same time.

The act of calling sober friends or former significant others at un-Godly hours after consuming alcoholic beverages to whine and complain about your lack of friends or significant other, thereby further alienating yourself from said pissed off recipient of phone call.

Also a common misheard lyric of the Brian Setzer Orchestra.

"Jimmy got hammered again this weekend and pulled another Drunk Dial N' Wail on me. Why can't I just unfriend him like on Facebook?"
