sextrance

An underground genre of terminally online music that tries to emulate mostly, but not exclusively, EDM of the early internet (myspace era nightcore, trance, happy hardcore, etc.) but with a distinctly heavy hit of lofi distortion over some, most, or all of it, giving it a hypnagogic and/or nostalgic feel. It may be contextualized as a descendent of the glitchbreak (breakcore revival) and HexD scenes that evolved in the late 2010's/early 2020's, which sextrance often borrows tropes from.

I listened to a sextrance station on soundcloud.
The DJ threw in a sextrance song into the middle of their set and I was there for it.
