television remote control; term dates from the late 1960s when the first tv remotes made a loud click when the buttons were pressed (because they sent an audible high-pitched noise to a microphone in the tv which would then change channels or volume. The click was actually a small hammer inside the remote that struck a small metal tube which made it resonate. Each button on the remote had it's own tube.) The type was discontinued due to the fact that someone dropping their keys or the phone ringing would cause the tv to go crazy and change channels by itself.

I can't find the clicker. Did it get lost in the couch again?

clicksand

A webpage that captures an individual in an endless stream of consecutive page clicks. Typically found in wiki-style websites where users are presented with paragraphs filled with branching informational links on a number of topics. The more one struggles to complete the sequence of links, the harder it is to escape. May result in browser crashes due to tab overload.

power click

Left mouse click that produces an unnecessarily loud and annoying sound caused by the full extension of the index finger before clicking.

This can be avoided by clicking with a slightly bent finger where the finger does not leave the surface of the mouse.

My office mate couldn't stop power clicking so we dabbed super glue on his left mouse button while he was away at lunch.
