covid relief

An oxymoron where by a person is promised support or relief, but in fact, they receive nothing. Covid relief is typically promised to those who are in dire need of support. The person promising covid relief never has intentions of giving relief. And, thus, the person expecting it can be strung along continously by mearly saying, "Just wait! Its coming!" The person waiting, being desperate, will cling to hope knowing no one could be so cruel as to continually promise covid relief.

Covid relief is a tactic used by politicians as a way to drive out competition. They will promise covid relief, allow a small business to fail, then replace the small business with one they have a vested interest.
Congressman Dorney Clark promised covid relief to a local restaurant while investing in a competitive restaurant chain located next door.

Covid Hokey Pokey

The varying dances each business requires that may or may not have anything to do with the control of Covid-19. These may include but are not limited to: temperature taking, hand sanitizing, answering a series of questions about where you have been, and eating from disposable dinnerware at a sit down restaurant.
When entering a restaurant the other day I had to do the Covid Hokey Pokey. It consisted of a temperature scan on a 95 degree day and insisting everyone sanitize their hands.

Covid Flaps

Referring to the plastic or PVC transparent door curtains most commonly found at the entrance to varying commercial and public spaces. Although initially designed to keep out unwanted insects , in the age of the global pandemic, these curtains or "flaps" encourage a significantly higher risk of viral contagion due to their large surface area which, by design, requires the skin contact of the hand, arm or in some cases face in order to operate.

Due to the inherent dankness of such threshold systems in the topical context has led to their addition to the cannon of COVID related catch phrases.

First coined in Wellington, New Zealand in late 2020 by local social personality, Rohanah Sos.
"Don't touch the Covid Flaps, Honey"
