Boston Turn Signal

A lude gesture involving the extension of the third finger on the left hand out the window of a moving vehicle. While this gesture is most often reserved for the operator of the vehicle, passengers in the front and rear may be recruited as needed. ie. flying the bird as an excuse for driving like a masshole.

Turn signal

A mythical object, believed to be found inside automobiles in or around Philadelphia.
If only there was a way to signal this turn so the person behind me knows what my intentions are. Oh well I'm from philly and wouldn't use a turn signal anyway.

The Signal

the constant flow of information that is transmitted by the television 24 hours a day.

When one continually controls the information, one controls the people absorbing the information. The manufactured and controlled information guides the masses to their conclusions and engineers society. Unplug the Signal!
They are like robots just repeating what was transmitted by the signal.

News of no importance is constantly debated and analyzed when subscribing to the signal.

noise-to-signal ratio

The proportion of irrelevant, off-topic, inflammatory, nonsensical, spammy, screaming, content-free, trolling, or otherwise useless statements to actual useful, worthwhile communication.

From the informal sense of signal to noise ratio, but inverted to emphasize the "noise".
"That discussion board used to be a great place to talk about politics, but now the noise-to-signal ratio is through the roof!"

"Typically, a demagogue actually benefits from nonsensical, contradictory and inflammatory statements and agendas. Ironically, the higher the noise-to-signal ratio, the more effective they become since any useful information would actually rein them in."
(adapted from Raul and JonG)

signal suppository

n. A driver who accelerates when you signal to change into their lane, even though they have a lot of space to let you in. Very common in Los Angeles driving. Seeing your turn signal, they instinctually step on the gas, and get right up your a**, like a suppository.
I almost had a bad accident because I changed lanes and that signal suppository nearly rammed into me!

It's so hard to change lanes because of these signal suppositories!
