Nefesh is Hebrew for the "soul" as a complete ethereal corporal combination.
This definition of soul and my other submission are based upon my observations of everyday people and my studies into the beliefs and cultures of those peoples who are the ancestors of my mother's people from Brasil - that is the proper Portuguese spelling - and Paraguay all the way to Africa and Asia.

Paraphrasing " And God breathed the breath of life into Man - that is ish - and he became a living soul." This is from Bereshit - Genesis - chapter two which deals with the creation of isha from the side of ish.
