It refers to the stereotypical aesthetic and lifestyle often associated with “basic white girls,” and more broadly to the vibe of overly gentrified neighborhoods. It describes people with expensive lifestyles who do yoga or Pilates without truly exercising, drink overpriced matcha lattes while discussing their wellness routines, and walk their tiny dogs through leafy streets dressed in Lululemon leggings. They claim to love the diversity and liveliness of cool neighborhoods, yet contribute to the loss of their identity.
The term can be used to describe people, objects, places, or even entire vibes. It is mostly used in a pejorative way, or positively in a sarcastic sense.
