Sri Lanka

The pearl shaped island off the coast of India that is the only home to the Sinhala civilization and one of the places where large numbers of Tamils reside. It has a long history that is found in a biased form in the Mahavamsha as well as a long religious threvada buddhist tradition and saiva hindu tradition. It is home of the burghers of Portugese and Dutch descent.
