An economic system in which the industry and trade is controlled by private investors oppose to the goverment or society. Captialism in its purist form is known as free market capitalism. The primary objective essentially is to obtain profit. In a capitalist society, you have the right to commodities. Free market (supply and demand) is in controll of purchasers and marketers. This enables economic growth due to the fact that capitalism creates competition which incentives innovation and production.
It's completely environmentally beneficial because businesses know that if they exploit to much, their equity will deplete. Captialism leads to the dramitic decrease in poverty rates therefore benefiting all classes in humanity. As Miltion Friedman once said: "The great virtue of a free market system is that it does not care what color people are; it does not care what their religion is; it only cares whether they can produce something you want to buy.
