technoversity

A term introduced in 1973 by G. Louis Heath, Ph.D. in his book, THE HOT CAMPUS: THE POLITICS THAT IMPEDE CHANGE IN THE TECHNOVERSITY. It connotes a university that has strayed from the liberal arts and the search for the truth to one that has become focussed on the techniques of advancing faculty as well as student careers. This emphasis on technique or method over content and substance lies at the heart of the technoversity.

(1.) "This university is so focussed on the practical and applied it stifles my soul! It is a true technoversity!"

(2.) "Now that my university is festooned with computers and smart boards, the profs have gone power-point happy. If they would only discuss the meaning of things with me I'd feel less hemmed in."

(3.) "At a Technoversity, the medium is the message, and the message is HOW rather than WHAT and WHY."

Technophenia

Technophenia is a condition in which a techno geek exhibits rapid changing technology fan boy enthusiasm for the latest technology fad before moving on and bashing that same technology.

Often found to be an early adopter of social media sites and as quickly deleting their account only to return again when new functionality is introduced.

The term is a tribute The Who's classic rock album Quadrophenia and the protagonist Jimmy's four personalities.

Robert deleted his Facebook account again, he has technophenia.

TechnoThespian

A person who is very overly critical about the sounds played at a techno night. Appreciate bars, melodies, textures, violent mixing, hard beats, quick beatmatching, 3 decking, headfuck sounds, bleeps, snares, drums, 909's, claps, off beat beat juggling, layering, 1210's, no gay laptops, head to the floor, jaw dropping, face melting, dark rhythms, constant addition and subtraction and no boring 12 minute loops

Often hunt in groups of 2, 4 or 6 and will be seen at the front of the DJ booth checking out the equipment and being critical at the state of the current dire state of techno. Will often jaunt and ridicule the young know it all scrotums in the crowd.

Won't last long at a night unless the music is amazing and will compare the music being played to the golden era of techno (90's)

Can also be called a Tech-Thesp or "T-T"
