scruburbs

noun; an area that is almost a respectable suburb, but is just a little "off". Maybe creepy, dirty, dingy, etc. Likely a suburban area that's going downhill and becoming a ghetto. Often peopled with scrubs, or just looks and feels like a scrubby version of suburbia.

Man, this new house I bought seemed like it was in a nice area. The neighbors have flowers in their lawns, cute little yards for every house. But, now that I've moved in and met the people here, I realize they have all given up on life and I can't leave my house after dark. D@mnit, I'm stuck in the scruburbs!
