Preps generaly wear Abercrombie and Fitch,Hollister,RUEHL NO.925,American Eagle,Lacoste,Polo,Benneton.Preps are generaly known as the opppsites of goths or punks and often the urban look(FUBU, Sean John, ect.)

1) They still wear polos that are slim fitted and trimmed to their waist.
2) Name brand clothing is still a must. Ralph Lauren, L.L. Bean, Barneys New York is still popular, but to the retro preppies. These days, we wear clothes from Hollister Co., Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Aeropostale, etc.
3) Mini skirts and hoop skirts are definately the height of popularity for spring/summer wear for prep girls. If so, we also add a ribbon belt (mainly pink), or a bottle cap belt.
4) We almost NEVER where cashmere sweaters over our necks anymore. If you do see one, then they're probably a fashionable geek, or a retro prep.
5)Scarves for girls are definately big in winter fashion.
6) Bell-bottoms, destroyed jeans, or acid wash is still popular today! Though you mostly them in fall/winter wear, preppies still wear the custom made jeans.
7) Nike shox are probably the #1 shoe for preppy fashion these days. Girls will also commonly wear flip flops in ANY season.
8) Hair ribbons are still popular today! You can see them mostly on brunette preppies, though. (well, I do)
9) Leg warmers are definately popular also. They usually go with flip flops and are commonly worn with skirts.

A prep can be a boy or a girl, of any age. A young prep can be detected if they play sports like hockey, or if they are a girl and do horse jumping or singing.
A teenage prep is the most distinguishable kind. They often wear popular clothings brands such as American Eagle (at the cheaper end of the prep scale), Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch, J. Lindeberg, Pusch, French Connection, TNA, Lululemon, Lacoste, Diesel. There are many other preppy brands.
A prep is most commonly white or brown. How to recognize a prep.
A male prep will likely have spiked hair with frosted tips. He may be wearing sunglasses. He will likely have on a polo shirt, with some kind of nice brand. His appearance will be well defined by his belt buckle, which will liked say something like DIESEL or FCUK. If he is daring, it may say Bacardi. His jeans will be light jeans. His shoes will be expensive. Probably white. A prep will not wear skateboarding shoes, instead they will wear actual running shoes, to fool you into thinking they are actually active. A prep in a picture will likely be holding a bottle of their parents alcohol, but they will probably not dare to drink it. They also may be pretending to smoke marijuana, but really they're just rolling some of mom's oregano.

She will likely have her nose pierced, with a cute little baby pink or blue stud in it. Never a ring though. Her hair will be straightened, definitely.
