Thriftway

One of the worst grocery stores out there. There are many things wrong with this store, such as the shitty managers (Tom, Bill), the air conditioner being broken (for about three years now), the roof leaking, and the crotchety old people that shop there.

Man, don't shop at Thriftway, not only is it a horrible store, a Ferguson works there!

thriftster

An off-shoot (or sub-culture) of the general hipster trend, but while most contemporary hipsters attempt to buy indie flavor by frequenting Urban Outfitters or American Apparel, a "thriftster" alternatively obtains said style by frequenting thrift stores or through general use of hand-me-downs. While shopping at the Salvation Army may have been included in the original definition of a "hipster," now that mainstream commercialism has caught onto the hipster fashion trends, the term "thriftster" must be adopted to differentiate those who appreciate used clothing and the ideals that come along with it from the ever-increasing group of trendy 20 and 30-somethings who are content to buy the massed-produced version of this clothing without asking how it got to be there in the first place.

"Linda, I love those thick-rimmed 50s-style glasses you're wearing! And you said you're not a hipster. Actually, now that I think about it, I think I just saw those at Wal-Mart."

"Actually, Chloe, I found these in my grandma's attic. Aren't they awesome? I was putting back her Christmas decorations."

thrift prep

someone(usually between 15 and 19) who LOVES thrift stores, swears they 'have to buy their own clothes', so they shop at thrift stores, yet manage , on a teenager's budget, to wear hollister, A&F, american eagle, and many other brand names

"oh my god look at what i got at the goodwill! it's such a cute shirt, don't you think? and it goes perfect with my A&F jacket too! i wore it with my hollister pants and i was like...woah" -a thrift prep would be caught saying this
