Governments are responsible for proving for their citizens and in a Compassionate Bastard system you could be as big a bastard as you liked, focussing on your own well-being and lifestyle reassured that everyone’s basic needs would be taken care of, yet not feel that you are being taken advantage of with over-taxation or rewarding of the lazy.
