To chuckle or laugh lightly after your own comment, typically after deliberate jokes or irony. After-chuckling is sometimes invoked out of a sense of awkwardness.

When an orator, filmmaker, artist, writer, poet, etc. references something obscure, rather than question the presenter, the audience nods and chuckles in agreement for fear of looking of stupid.

When the artist said her work was a meditation on the Osaka Conference of 1875, the gallery's guests did an uncomfortable nod and chuckle to hide their ignorance.

Have you ever had a funny thought or memory and you have a little chuckle to yourself (in a queue or bus stop etc). Everyone around you thinks you have gone crazy and therefore you become a "chucklefreak".

(At a bus-stop). That guy at the front is laughing to himself, what a chucklefreak!
