A male skateboarder, over 40, who wears full pads (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet) 1980's skateboarding fashion, and talks very loudly about when they skated back in the day with
dog-town and z-boys. Usually barneys are found in groups, with a particularly overweight
guy taking photos of tricks that are not at all impressive. A barney loves telling other non-padded skateboarders, especially female skateboarders, that they wear pads because they are so old, but in fact, are not that old. A barney
will pad up even if there is no vert in sight. A barney
will speak loudly and cheer unnecessarily loudly when their
friends do boring, unimpressive tricks or if a female skateboarder does something unimpressive, like dropping into the bowl. Barneys play
music while they skate, which matches their 1980's clothing and pad styles, and consists of one style of
music from the 1980's (example: Dead Kennedys).
