Typical practices include buying at street price then reselling at an inflated price, cutting the product to stretch it out, just charge money, drugs, sex etc for procurement or they buy in bulk at a discount thats not even close to wholesale prices (often times they don't realize they're actually middle-men , are in denial or just plain stupid).
Don't even bother to inquire about their source as they will take that secret to the grave. They are even privy towards homies giving excuses like "the dealer isn't taking new customers", "they're not a dealer, they just sell me a lil of their stash" or "I get it strait from the source (but never has large quantities)".
Identifying a potential middleman is easy, common red flags include- over priced; are always out and have to go re-up; not easy to get a hold of, sometimes for days; asks for gas money, not meant to be repaid; drugs come packed in torn grocery bags, plastic wrappers, foil etc instead of mini poly bags; asks you to front the money before they re-up; cant sell large quantities at a discounted price; rides a bike and not because they want to
