Christopher Columbus Effect

When someone discovers something great. Then, someone else takes that and calls it his own. Suddenly, everyone knows that person #2 "discovered" it. Really annoying when you're person #1. I'm sure we've all been in this situation before!
Person #1: Hey dude, look at this new strategy i just found! It cuts lots of time off of my score!
Person #2: HEY EVERYONE I JUST FOUND THIS NEW TACTIC I CAN BEAT YOU ALL NOW!
Person #1: Dude, that's the Christopher Columbus Effect. You can't just take me work!

The Edward Cullen Effect

An extreme form of playing hard to get where a male acts as if he respects women to make them fall madly in love with him. This often includes said male letting a woman know he is attracted to her, then will claim to be a virgin and say he wants to wait for the “right girl” . When you try kissing him, he’ll admit that he gets nervous around girls and when you least expect it, he’ll kiss you. He won’t make the first move, but will flirt with you all the time. When you try hanging out with him, he’ll cancel plans at the last minute, then apologize with an innocent smile, and all anger will immediately disappear. As a result of The Edward Cullen Effect, you’ll want to do every sexual thing possible with said attractive male.

Byrd Effect

The Byrd Effect - A phenomenon surrounding internet news message boards wherein parties related or known to a perpetrator of a crime or person otherwise at fault in a situation will post rambling long-winded digressions and excuses for the behavior of their friend or relative.

Frequently involve use of poor grammar and punctuation, insults, and attempts at virtual psychoanalysis of other critical posters. Also, may include unsubstantiated allegations of media or authoritative subterfuge and claims of knowing vital perspective altering information, which is inexplicably never shared.
