When Roman gladiators received the thumbs down signal, it meant that a he was to live. It signified that the guards were to put their swords into the ground.

Although I do not remember the name of the program, it was on the History Channel hosted by Peter Weller and he explained that thumbs down has been misinterpreted by Hollywood.

What idiots give virtually any definition on UD. Whether or not its actually a bad definition or even if it's neutral. People must just do it it because they think it makes them look tough and they're a just fucktards who can't just be mature enough to use this "rating system" properly.

By giving this definition a thumbs down you are just conforming to the afformentioned stereotpye. Use rating systems properly, no matter how pointless they are.
