An indie band that wrote a song called "Donnie and Gretchen", which should have been on the Donnie Darko soundtrack, because it's ridiculously romantic. Unfortunately, they're not on a major label, so almost no one who listens to pop radio has heard of them.

No.

Neither have I.

Are they good?

Yeah.

indie nerd

An extremely intelligent specimen that commonly dabbles in philosiphy, alternative-indie, culture, academics, humanities, art and the internet. The are usually very moody, sensitive, serious, observant, critical and cynical. They also usually find it hard to fit in with 99.9999999% of the people they know, because others commonly envy their intelligence in a myriad of areas. (NOTE: they are not interchangable with scenesters)

indie chick

An "Indie Chick" Is someone who likes bands who are not signed to a big record label - but bnads who are signed to an 'independant' record label. Their music is indie/rock

Indie

1. Short for independant, usually music, as in independant label, independantly produced, etc. It DOES NOT have a particular sound since it really only refers to label and production (bands such as Modest Mouse and Of Montreal sound nothing alike, yet they are both indie).

2. Can also refer to stores or businesses that aren't part of chains.

3. Listeners are not flowery scene kids, as is generally believed. However, listeners MAY be stoned.

4. Is awesome.

Wal-Mart is to indie as brussel sprouts is to tasty.

A new word to describe West End Toronto hetero poseurs - the guys who dress and act queer but deep down, beneath layers of affected
ambiguous hipness, just want to sleep with girls. Reflects the indeterminate/ambivalent male sexuality of the indie scene. Perfect for describing the alternative set, when "metrosexual" is just too Fab Five. Also applies outside of Toronto.

"I was chatting with this cute indie-terminate at Vazaleen for hours before I found out he's only into girls. I'm starting to feel like the new queer is str8!"
