copycat menu-selection

Refers to da random meal-choice dat ya make in cases where you aren't familiar wif da types of offerings at a particular restaurant, often due to either da diner's being foreign-cuisine themed (i.e., Italian, Chinese, Hawaiian, etc.) or your not being accustomed to eating out in da fist place, and so instead of either asking yer friend who's treating you to choose "something tasty" for you or puzzling over da laminated dinner-options folder yerself, you just "enter default mode" or "go old school" by simply looking around at what meals other patrons are gleefully stuffing their cheeks wif, and then asking da waiter to serve you some of whatever dish looks/smells da best on said other folks' table.

My warm-natured tomboy friend Desiree took me out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant as a thank-you reward for my being such a helpfully-supportive friend to her; I wasn't accustomed to dat type of "savory 'n' spicy" fare, however, so I just observed a number of fellow diners' partaking of similar copiously-steaming and delicious-aromaed offerings, and then after my friend had ordered, I made a copycat menu-selection when asked which dish I wanted for myself.

sharp copy

"Sharp copy" is the phrase sometimes used by photographers to say that the image quality (sharpness in particular) of this particular version of the lens is good. When something is mass-produced, designs are made which define the ideal size, along with the upper and lower limits for tolerance away from this ideal size, for every piece (every screw, hole, seal, etc.) in the final product. When it comes to making a lens, these variances apply to the glass as well as the metal housing. Sometimes a lens which might pass quality inspection at the factory might perform worse than another lens that came off the same production line at a different time.

"This is a pristine, sharp copy of the Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS USM Lens; it is flawless."

Ledge copy

Written material (a few sentences or an entire paragraph) that has questionable worth in the larger scheme of the story, article, or blog post. Figuratively, the copy is standing on the ledge wondering whether it should "take the leap" or continue on with its existence.

"David thinks he is a great writer, but his writing rambles on and on with meaningless ledge copy. He should just get to the point."
